Ex-Gaana CEO Prashan Agarwal launches spiritual wellness platform OMI
Mumbai: Prashan Agarwal, ex-CEO of Gaana and co-founder of PropTiger, has teamed up with Aniket Lila, ex-Nexus Venture Partners, to launch OMI, an online spiritual and wellness platform.
OMI aims to combine old Vedic methods with a new age lifestyle. It has received an undisclosed amount of money from Nexus Venture and aims to disrupt more than $ 10 billion in spiritual wellness market in India, the platform said in a statement Wednesday.
“Today the world is facing a multitude of changes in our lives, in terms of the way we live, connect, we hug, unprecedented things we go through and this has affected the spiritual, devotional and mental well-being impacted everyone. ” from us, “said Agarwal.” In addition, the proliferation of the Internet and digital payments in the Indian population is at an all-time high and growing. This dynamic makes the market ripe for innovations in this category. “
“We are revolutionizing the nearly 4,000 year old market in India by bringing the best of ancient India to millennials through a convenient, private, holistic and personalized platform,” said Lila. “OMI will be your personal spiritual guide. Our mission is to make the world a happier place. Most Indians are spiritual and this offers us a chance for the blue ocean.”
“We are very excited to partner with Prashan and Aniket. This is a very India-specific problem with very large existing profit pools,” said Pratik Poddar, director of Nexus Venture Partners. “Nobody approached the market in a millennial-centric way and developed a product-oriented, scalable and trustworthy solution. Having known the founders for many years, I am delighted to be working with them to crack this ten billion dollar market! “
Prashan is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and an ISB alumnus. At Gaana, he was instrumental in growing the company and raised more than $ 200 million from Tencent to build Gaana into a household brand. Lila is a graduate of Northwestern University and most recently was part of the investment team at Nexus Venture Partners, India’s largest indigenous VC.
Commenting on the undisclosed level of funding from Nexus Venture Partners, Agarwal said, “The funding will be used primarily to recruit talent in product, technology and operations. We are looking for executives with a passion for the stage and who want to help us build OMI from day one. “
“Our goal is to improve the wellbeing of ten million people in five years and create the largest spiritual wellness community in the world. To get started, you can consult our ‘Astro Guides’ on the OMI platform and receive a personalized healing plan that includes activities such as meditation, mantra chanting, affirmations and journaling. We are currently focused on bundling a fragmented offering and building a trustworthy brand. As OMI scales you will see us expand the platform and add many more services to help you improve your spiritual wellbeing, “added Lila.
OMI can be downloaded from the Google Playstore.
