The U.S. labor market is about to turn around thanks to the rapid adoption of COVID-19 vaccines. Companies are reopening but are having difficulty filling positions. A new post-pandemic phenomenon shows employees are accelerating their retirement in record numbers, leaving gaps where succession arrangements were not in place. This perfect storm also makes it harder to retain current talent, although geographic location is no longer an issue for companies open to hybrid workplace plans.
