Wellness Walk helps build financial wellness, growth

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The African American Male Wellness Agency is hosting a public event dedicated to building financial growth in Columbus’ black community.

“I think sometimes we think it’s too late for us and that’s not true,” said Kenny R. Hampton, vice president of the African American Male Wellness Agency.

Vice President Hampton says the event is designed to provide attendees with a financial health plan.

By offering free estimates of a person’s budget, along with investment advice from financial experts.

“I could buy someone a car, right? But what would that change their status? Little. But if I bought you land or property, that makes a difference there. There will be some value that can last, ”said Sherome Hathaway, chief strategy officer for the African American Male Wellness Agency.

Hathaway says they also want to focus on building generational wealth and home ownership in black neighborhoods.

A concept echoed by Hampton who says his hope for the event is to see a legacy of economic growth for blacks in Columbus.

“In six months we can look back on this experience and this event and see what influence it had on many participants. Since they could see their numbers and get to work, make the right adjustments, ”said Hampton.
