‘Yoga showed me the path to mental, spiritual wellness’ | Hyderabad News

It has been over a year since the world began grappling with a global pandemic. When it was first hired, it brought a lot of emotions to me personally. It started with a sense of fear of the unknown with constant stress and anxiety. It gradually turned into feelings of resentment, guilt, and frustration. Months of holed up with no social connection drove me into a negative spiral and I could see my life falling apart.
At that point, I decided to save the pieces and rebuild my life. I turned to yoga, which has literally redefined who I am and what I stand for. I took part in a yoga teacher training program offered by a prestigious academy and it had a profound impact on my life. In the beginning, regular meditation exercises, yog nidra, and relaxation techniques helped me calm my troubled mind by leading to better mental wellbeing. Second, it turned out to be a great way to improve physical endurance. ‘Asanas’ have helped strengthen my body and improve flexibility for physical wellbeing. Next, I worked miracles on the principles of ‘Yama’ and ‘Niyama’ to improve my interpersonal relationships with others and thereby improve my social wellbeing. And finally, yoga helped my soul. It ultimately allowed me to connect with myself and led me to find a true purpose in life – to lead me on the liberating path of spiritual wellbeing.
After the program, I finally received my international yoga teacher certification which gave me the confidence to open my own online virtual yoga studio with the mission of spreading knowledge about yoga for holistic 360 degree wellness. I built my website and built my online credibility by posting yoga-related news and videos on social media. Fortunately, students signed up for my classes from month one.
It’s my day a student calls me and tells me how yoga is helping him / her overcome a long, troubled health problem. Then I feel that I am able to make a positive difference in the lives of others, small as it may be, by teaching yoga and guiding them on their path to health and happiness.
