Youngstown Financial Wellness Summit educates public on cryptocurrency and more

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – When you think of financial wellbeing, do you think of cryptocurrency?

“That’s why we’re here, we want to be able to educate people about cryptocurrency, FAAM Coin of course, but cryptocurrency in general and how it can fit into their financial situation,” said Brian Glenn, FAAM Coin Director of Education.

Some of the original members of FAAM Coin, a locally created cryptocurrency, attended the Financial Wellness Summit Thursday night and explained why it is so important.

“A lot of people hear the word cryptocurrency and they finally come to the decision that they want to invest or learn more so that they can move forward with the decision to invest in different cryptocurrencies. We’re just here to educate people and make sure they have the knowledge and just know what it’s really about, ”said Keith Logan, a founding member of FAAM Coin.

The summit was open to the public and was designed to share information and training on financial literacy.

The African American Wellness Agency partnered with a few local businesses and organizations to put it all together.

“Let’s think about what financial instruments we need to use to ensure that we not only have a financial education, but also a technological education, we have upskilling education and skills to make better households financially stable” said Sherome Hathaway, chief strategy officer for the African American Wellness Agency.

Hathaway says this is not the first or only event of its kind that they will be having. The events are public, so everyone can participate.
